POLAND: A visit to the Polish Parliament

Joanna Mika-Hadelka 2008-04-08

In November 2007 fifty students from ZSEI Swietochlowice visited Polish Parliament. We were given a lecture on its history and political importance.

Polish Parliament it is a bicameral National Assembly where the upper house is called Senate, while the the lower house is called Sejm.

The Sejm now comprises 460 deputies elected by proportional representation every four years.

We learnt many historical facts and figures concerning Sejm and Senate. We were also shown places were deputies gather, give speeches and decide on things of great importance for all our nation.

We could feel the exciting yet noble atmosphere of the representative rooms and lounges.

Some of us even started to think of political career and promised to do their best to return here in a few years time.
