Academical Artistic Scene

District Council of Polish Student Association in Wrocław is proud to present a new and very promising project, the Academical Artistic Scene.

The aim of Academical Artistic Scene is to enable young artists to present their skills to a wider public. We would want to encourage alternative and independent high school theaters to work with us. We plan to organize exhibitions, musical concerts, cabarets, expositions and evenings with ethnical culture, literary banquets, photographic displays, evenings with poetry.

The opening show is scheduled on 4. November 2004.
Two student theatrical groups will take part in the show, the „Trupa-pa” group an „Teatr i Mienia”. A musical recital will conclude the evening.
The inaugural show is just the beginning.
In the future we plan to create the foundations for The Academical Artistic Week.
We plan to fill each day of the week with a different kind of artistic activity.

Our plans include:

- Monday Literary Meetings - we would like to invite young, beginning poets to work with us, and create and opportunity for them to present their works. Beside amateur displays, we plan to organize meetings with well known and valued celebrities from the literary spheres. Unique atmosphere of the project will encourage the audience to active participation in The Literary Meetings.

- Tuesday Cabaret Meetings – there will be a sea of laughter and an ocean of tears – happiness tears of course – and all that thanks to presentations of various cabaret groups from high schools and colleges.

- Wednesday Meetings With Ethnical Culture – The aim of the project is to introduce the variety of culture of the world to young people. Tales of distant land, pictures, music, dance shows and tasting of native dishes, all that and more thru which the far away will become much closer.

- Thursday Photographical Displays – will allow authors fascinated with the ability to capture a moment In time on a small piece of photographical film, to share their own point of view, often very unique and surprising.
Photographical Reviews will also help shaping sensibility and artistic awareness. We will also invite specialists from SPAF (Stowarzyszenie Paraartystycznych Fotografów) , and organize lectures and seminars about photography.

- Fridays With Theater –theater is one of the forms of human activity which evolves very Fast In the academic circles. There are many alternative and independent theaters In the academic sphere which are willing to present fruits of their work and cooperate with AAS. Currently there are two groups working in Palacyk - ”Trupa-pa” and „Teatr i Mienia”.

We plan to adapt one of the cambers in Palacyk for the theatrical purposes, installing a scene, spot lights and curtains . We would also want to invite well known celebrities related to theater – directors, actors, critics. The AAS is
also open for high school theatrical groups, who are always welcome to perform in Palacyk, as part of “Fridays With Theater”. Theatrical reviews and contests to which all independent and alternative theatrical groups will be welcome are part of the near future of AAS.

The main aim of Academical Artistic Scene project is to create an independent student culture filled with art and interstudent communication.
We are aware of the fact that this kind of activity is needed for both the performers and the receivers of the fruits of their work.
District Council of Polish Student Association in Wrocław for the purposes of Academical Artistic Scene rendered accessible chambers on the second floor in the middle part of Pałacyk – rooms 218a-c – with a total area of 130 square meters.
