OBS: på svenska här! eTwinning is an initiative by European Schoolnet - and thereby Ministries of Education in many European countries - aiming at getting schools connected in Europe.

In mid January 2005 an eTwinning conference took place in Brussels with more than 300 participants from 25 European countries. The main event during the conference was the launch of the eTwinning portal that enables schools to find matching schools in other countries to cooperate with.

The official opening of the eTwinning web site was, of course, the main event of the day that also included video greetings from several authorities within the educational field.

So, now it's time to take a good look at the eTwinning website - and get your school registered, just like Tunaskolan now is. You will find the eTwinning portal here!

On Saturday there were several workshops available for the participants. Some of the topics covered were tools for cooperation through the net, learning through eTwinning and a presentation of the new eTwinning portal.

The third and the last day of the conference started out with national workshops - all the Nordic countries in one group to start with. After a quick gathering the Swedish group had a meeting where all the participants presented their ideas and impressions. Lots of interesting work is in progress in Sweden and eTwinning can definitely contribute to that!

The final parts of the conference consisted of a lecture by professor Derrick de Kerkchove from the University of Toroto, followed by the closing address by Maruja Gutiérres Díaz, head of European Comission Multimedia Unit.

Opportunities for our school

eTwinning definitely offers opportunities for our school. The existing international contacts can be enhanced by eTwinning and now it should be easier than ever to get new connections in other countries. After this conference, it is crystal clear that many, many schools in Europe want to get connected internationally. Let's not miss this chance!

New material added at later date! Please also see our report from eTwinning conference 2006 (Linz) and the conference 2007 (Brussels)!
