Sue Grund visited Torskolan

Sue Grund visited our school last week. She is a primary teacher from Adelaide and she and her husband were on a 7-weeks-trip out in Europe. They stayed at my place for nine days and we had a great time together. I have learnt so much about Aussie life and culture – things that I never could have learnt from books.

Sue and I have known each other for about five years. We met on ePALS, a site where teachers can find epals for their students. Some of the students in year 9 have been emailing to her students but today are her former students in the secondary school and have got a new teacher.

Sue came with me and followed two ordinary school days and all the 9-grade-students met her in one or two English classes. Some of them also met her in the gym where she taught them an Aussie game named Rounders - a game that is very similar the Swedish game “Burnball”.

What do you remember from her visit? What did you learn about Australia? She told us a lot but what things impressed you most?
