In the Swedish society we use democracy for almost everything. For example when we vote for a political party, we use exactly that, democracy. But for those who are not old enough to vote, what can you do to affect the society in the first place? 

The first thing you can do is to try to get elected as a representative for your school council. By doing that you can manage to pass some thoughts and ideas to the school board and therefore you have the chance to impact the school environment. 

If you want to go further you can try to get elected as an commissioner or substitute in your city’s youth council (Ungdomsfullmäktige). On the other hand, you might not live in a city with a youth council, which ultimately means you can not get elected or even vote there. So, how can you make an impact?

Now we have talked about how you can make an impact on the city and country you live in, but let's say you don't get elected, what can you do, if anything?

Well first of all you can try to get in contact with some political parties or other politicians through social medias like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok etc. 

If you can't reach any politicians with social medias or if they don't want to cooperate you can try to talk to the schools principal or teachers or alternatively you can reach out to the few elected students for the school council. 

If none of that works you can also try to see if there are any demonstrations coming up that you can join to show your opinion

Lastly you can educate yourself, friends and your family by reading articles online, talking with others that are educated enough. Lastly you can start educating others with your newfound knowledge and spread the word
