Through the tiger´s eye.

We had an assignment in our class that we had to read a book and then write a review of the book. We should read “Bristol Murder” but I wanted to read another one, “Through the tiger’s eye”, and so I did. The book is thicker than the “Bristol Murder” so I have not finished it. So this review is about the half book. The writer of the book is Kerrie O´connor.

The story was about two kids, Lucy and Ricardo, who moved with their mother and dog, T-tongue to the rainforest in Kurrawong. Theirs parents are divorced and now the mother doesn’t have so much money so they can´t stay in their house on the beach.

Lucy is the big sister to Ricardo and she made use of that. If she decides something she believes it should be like that for that reason. She is twelve years old and has long dark hair. She is dreaming things about people who want to send her a message or need her help. She is dreaming about a smiling soldier in another country where it is war. He and his assistants chase two little kids without parents.

The house in the rainforest is not so big from the outside and it doesn’t look so nice so Lucy and Ricardo don’t want to live there. But when they come in to the house it looks very big and there are mermaid statues everywhere apart from one room. When Lucy came into the house she felt the strange feeling that she has when she was dreaming about the smiling soldier. The walls roofs and floors were painted like it was under the water. In the room were no mermaid statues or paintings on the wall just two beds and a big rug with a tiger on. When Lucy and Ricardo walked into the room and saw the tiger on the rug, they saw a cat on the windowsill. Not a normal cat. It was exactly looking like the tiger on the rug, it was a tiger cat.

Ricardo is a boy who is a little bit shy. He doesn’t speak so much but is ingenious. He has blond hair and maybe is ten or something they don’t mention that in the book, they just say that he is younger then Lucy.

The tiger-cat came sometime to Lucy and Ricardo and then just disappeared. One time they and T-tongue follow the cat into the rainforest. They came to a big tumbledown house. The cat was sitting on the top of the stair and T-tongue on the first step. Ricardo and Lucy stand in front of the house. Lucy thinks that the tiger-cat was sending her pictures into her brain. And that he was talking to her at that way. The cat says that they were forced to find the lady who lived there before. Ricardo has said earlier that the tiger-cat was talking to him, but then Lucy didn’t believe him. Now she felt stupid and didn’t want to tell him that the cat talked to her. She just says that they are forced to find the lady. Of course he not believe her when she doesn’t want to tell him how she know that. When they stand there the tiger-cat just disappears again and T-tongue were follow it. Suddenly he just disappears too. Lucy runs up in the stairs with Ricardo after. They both fell down in a hole in the stair and came down under the house. There were roots from a gigantic tree which held up the rest of the house. They went into a tunnel and came to a different land. I think it is a little bit like Narnia, when they go through a wardrobe. They meet the two kids from Lucy’s dream and they where they went to their gand mother who lived far away. Lucy and Ricardo are going to follow them so they go home and get some food to the kids and then they go back to the two kids. The tiger-cat had sened Lucy a message that they were forced to find the old women and I think it must be the kid in the other lands gand mother.

This is about what I have read so far and I think that the book was better in the start but after a while it was a little bit boring. So I don’t recommend it. It was when Lucy, Ricardo and the two other kids were in the djungle on their way to their grandmother. They were there for a very long time so it didn’t happen very much in the following chapters.
