A sad moment in my life

Carina Nevalainen 2008-02-08

One summer, in August 2001, my mother, my sister, my dog and I went for a walk in the wood to pick some mushrooms and berries. After a while we parked our car by the roadside and started to walk. I can remember that it was a hill. I played with my dog Matilda and she started to run down the hill. Of course, I ran after. I also remember, that a little stump stack up in the ground. My dog stepped across it and I didn’t think so much about it. My sister and I found much mushrooms right under some spruces. We started to pick them and after a while we looked at each other. We could feel stings all over our bodies. We started to scratch and for a moment we thought that it just was the needles from the spruces. But then we saw 100 of wasps in the air! It was not just a stump, it was a waps nest! We started to run to the car and after us came the wasps. We were lucky that we took the car that day. Otherwise, I would have more than 11 stings all over my body. Yes, so many stings had I. When we sat in the car the wasps sat under the knees, in the hair and on the back. It was really hurting so I ran into the shower, and it was really, really cold water. After a while the pain disappeared. My mum and my sister had stings to. And they were okay. But the morning after that day, I woke up and found my dog in my med, she was dead. I cried and I just lay there.
