coming soon.. Netd@ys Europe 2004

M_K_I 2004-10-09

Netd@ys Europe 2004 will take place on November 22 - November 27 The subject is "Intercultural Dialogue and image".

All projects concerned to "Dialogue" should be registered on the Netd@ys website before November 21

http://www.netdayseurope.org

People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to submit projects online, which involve the use of new technologies and deal with the theme proposed: youth organisations, associations, cultural institutions (museums, libraries, theatres, opera houses, cinemas, etc.), educational establishments (schools, universities, etc.), local and regional authorities, etc.
Projects which share the philosophy of the initiative and which meet its objectives are awarded the label " Netd@ys Project".

When developing a Netd@ys project, participants are encouraged to:

- Study traditions and cultures and current artistic developments in EU and other countries and learn more about the history of particular countries and the impact different cultures have on today's world. The projects could provide innovative educational and cultural approaches to developing a respect for diversity and a spirit of tolerance in society..
- Break down language barriers using sound and image (music, films, videos or photography).
- Organise competitions through the Internet. One of the aims of the competitions could be for participants to find a partner school, youth organisation or cultural institutions in another country and to develop an on-line project on the Netd@ys 2004 theme

Newest Newsletter

Dear Netd@ys member,

Welcome to the fourth edition of the Netd@ys e-newsletter. We hope you've all had a great summer and that you're preparing your Netd@ys 2004 offerings. November will see Netd@ys week once again take place all over the European Union. So, what have you got planned? Nothing? Forgotten how to get involved? If you've been feeling a little lazy of late, below is a recap of how you can get involved in Netd@ys 2004.

Theme and kinds of projects
As the theme of 'dialogue between cultures and image' suggests, we are looking for projects that use new technologies to study traditions, cultures and heritage in Europe and beyond. Participants can submit projects based on the theme of 'dialogue' by using 'image' - photographs, films, videos etc. Examples of Netd@ys projects include making films, organising video conferences with young people in other countries, setting up websites, holding discussion forums, photo journals etc. The possibilities are endless!

Rules
There are four simple rules you need to follow in order to be part of Netd@ys 2004:

1. Your project should be based on the theme 'Dialogue between cultures and image' and demonstrate the use of online technology in learning, teaching and discovery

2. Projects can start at any time of the year but they must have a special activity planned during Netd@ys week (Nov. 22 - 27) when they will be showcased

3. Ideally, you should work together with other individuals and/ or organizations on your project

4. Closing date for entries is 21/11/2004

National Correspondents (NCs)
NCs are the people that promote and coordinate Netd@ys in each country. They are there to help you create and promote your projects. So, if you have an idea for a project, feel free to contact them. Think of them as your tutor at school or University.

Website
The Netd@ys Europe website is about to be launched and will be online on 20 September. The site will give you a wealth of information and contacts that will no doubt be of use to you in setting up your Netd@ys 2004 project. The address is www.netdayseurope.org so don't forget to look out for us..

We really hope this newsletter kick-starts your ambitions to be part of the most important European Commission initiative aimed at you - European 15 to 25 year olds.
Good luck with the preparations!

Until next time!

The Netd@ys team
