Poland - Plan D perspective (Dialogue, Democracy and Debate)
Registered schools: 1160. MEPs: 15. Schools took part in two all Polish competitions: they prepared 120 websites about EU countries and sent 300 submissions to 'Earth - the human's planet' contest.
Schools are taking part in plenty of local level contests prepared by Europe Direct points.
Students are creating modern visions of the Europe of the future with respect to human rights, anti-racism, solidarity, democracy and freedom. They are enthusiastic about rights for citizens of the EU and particularly on freedom
of movement across Europe. The discussions have shown possible problems with national identity and questions on European Citizenship institutions. The most popular topic was about realization of the Convention on the Rights of the
Child in Poland and EU. Students voted for including into the school program for all of Europe the subject 'Human rights and tolerance'. They express their wish for more solidarity in Europe and the world. The sensibility on humanitarian aid for poor countries (Africa) caused many initiatives, like
joining the Maitri 'Adoption by Heart' program or Polish 'Time for 1%' advertising action (described in 'My proposal for Europe').
The next most important issue for them is peace - they are writing peace declarations and poems and are organizing peace marches across the cities.
Europe Direct points throughout Poland are preparing plenty of events presenting European culture, as well as lectures and Oxford's debates on local levels - among the subjects that are interesting for young people are 'Educational
perspectives and development in European Union'; 'Work in Europe - professions of future';'I am European - my rights in EU'.
