JAPAN: Hikawamaru

Here we wouold like to introduce you to one of Japan's most famous ships HIKAWAMARU. 

The Hikawamaru was a ocean passage boat which had Chaplin, the famous actor, as a passenger as well as many celebrities and intellectuals. With graceful and rich interiors and art deco decorations all over the ship, it had been called Queen of the Pacific.

Hikawamaru is a huge ship which has an overall lenght of 163.3 m and a weight of 12000 t.
It is a luxury liner mainly for the North American routes, which was on duty fr about 30 years, from 1930.

Now it is an open for everyone, and we can feel what it would have been like to travel on this luxury liner.

Hikawamaru first voyage was in 1930, to Seattle.
