Halina Bednarz 2007-02-18

We exchanged many many sweets we made ourselves!

February 14 is Valentine’s day. In Japan, the day has been lardely Japanized recentry. Valentine’s Day is popular as a day which the girls give chocolates to the boys. However, many young women give some sweets or small not only to their boy friend or anyone they love, but also their male friends, families, teachers, seniors of their club and so on… Because of our school is girls’ high school, so the day is one of the big festival for us!!!

We exchanged many many sweets we made ourselves!

Students was looking for friends or seniors they want to give sweets.
Students was looking for friends or seniors they want to give sweets.

All corridors were crowded by people to exchange sweets.

The whole school was excited. Usually, we make about 30-50 sweets on February 13 each other, and exchange them on February 14. So the bag filled with sweets.

It is said that the custom of Valentine’s Day in Japan is started by the company which wanted to sell chocolates. Girls like such events very much than boys. So, company popularized Valentine’s Day as a day for girls.

This is an opinion from one of us about that.
In my personal opinion, it is not so bad idea. Because Valentine’s day gives girls the courage to say “I love you ”. It can be a very good chance to say their inmost thoughts.

But nowadays, to exchange so many sweets is a little burden for us.
One of us said,
For me, this year I gave sweets to about 80 people, though I'm not sure, may be...So it was really hard to make lots of sweets.

Another said
I think may be we don’t have to give chocolate such people.

In our school’s custom is especially strange.
It is traditional that junior students present to senior students in our school. Senior students gine junior sweets on Halloween. Both of day are very busy for us. We get many many sweets, so we are happy! But we get a few fat...

In Japan, we heard the news where a company prohibits women from giving sweets of obligation.

Our opinion about that is this,
We agree with it, because that's the waste of wrappings; and we don't want to eat sweets any more. Actually I want to eat sweets soon...:)

Of course some gives sweets to her boy friend or anyone they love. But this year, we didn’t find such person among my friends so much; We think that is because of our school have only girls!!

There are many opinion about the Valentine’s Day. But most of us think,
we agree with Valentine’s Day event. Because we have rarely to make sweets except Christmas or Birthday. Besides, Valentine’s Day is to chance to confess one’s heart. And atmosphere of town or classroom become bright. We also think that Valentine's Day is the good day for expressing gratitude.
We like this event so much!
There is a mountain of sweets in my house still now. We couldn't eat all of sweets on Valentine's Day! Valentine's Day is a troublesome day, but we enjoyed it very much!!!

That is about our Valentine’s Day in 2007!!
Did you enjoy reading?? If you so, we are very happy.
Thank you.
