BRUNEI: First Day of Hijrah

First Day of Hijrah or known in Brunei as ‘Awal Tahun Hijrah’ is a very important day for the Muslims in the whole world. It marked as two very important event that occurred in the History of Islam. Firstly, it was the day that the Prophet Muhammad migrated from Holy Mecca to Medinah in year 662 ‘masihi’ and secondly, it was the religious day where Muslims did their Sunat Prayers in mosques worldwide. First Day of Hijrah marked as the start of the Hijrah year for the Muslims

This year, First Day of Hijrah is celebrated with His Majesty’s Titah of upgrading Seri Begawan Religious Teachers College to as a University College.
He believes that religious teachings is vital to the nation. His Majesty also consented in presenting Religious Awards. Imams also delivered sermons.
Babies born on the First Day of Hijrah are acknowledged. The people in Brunei performed Maghrib and Isyak Prayers together in mosques all over the country.
