Independence Day /Narodowe Swieto Niepodleglosci (Dzien Niepodleglosci) http://www.youngdiplomats.zsei.info/photo/thumbnails.php?album=52 The 11th of November is a special day for Poles, celebrated as the Independence Day meaning the return to the map of sovereign European states after 123 years of foreign rule. "The Polish State has arisen by the will of the whole Nation" - Jozef Pilsudski The Polish State was wiped out of Europe's map after the Third Partition in 1795. The Partitions of Poland (1772, 1793, and 1795) divided the Polish Kingdom among its three powerful neighbours, Russia, Austria, and Prussia.

Polish revolutionary and statesman, Field Marshal, first Chief of State (1918–1922) of the Second Polish Republic, as well as the leader of its armed forces.
Piłsudski was the major influence in the foreign policy and government of Poland, and an important figure in European politics. He is considered to be largely responsible for Poland regaining its independence, one hundred and twenty three years after the partitions of Poland.
