MEASURING TIME /Spain/

Maria Piedad Avello 2007-06-03

CLOCKS: STARTING TO TEACHING TIME in Spain
At the classrooms a clock helps children to be aware of how time is  measured.
Time to start and time to finish the different activities can be seen at the clock. Children often ask, when are we going to have lunch or to start Physical Education?
They are very interested in how time goes by. I can explain it by telling the time and at the same time telling an event that happens after or before it.

We are learning how to read a non-digital (or "analog") clock, some of them can say the time even it is not a curricular content.

Besides we have got clocks that we can touch and with movable hands and there we practice to change the hour.

In the morning we say what will happen and this gives the children a clear sense of what will be happening during their day at school.
Soon your child will be reminding you what time it is!
